Tomáš Vocelka

Tomáš Vocelka is a Czech photographer and journalist, winner of the Sony World Photography Awards 2021 in the Architecture & Design / Professional category. He currently photographs mainly for the Aktuálně.cz website, where he is also the editor of the photography section. He won the Czech Press Photo 2018 in the category Prague Transformations / Prague Grant and is a two-time finalist in the Travel Photographer of the Year competition. He has been elected Krnov's Personality of the City of Krnov 2021 in the Culture category.

In 2021, he was part of the exhibition Jizerska 50 Seen by 6, in which he and other renowned Czech photographers depicted this legendary race through their eyes. He perceives Jizerska 50 as a whole from a birds-eye view enabled by photographing from above from a small sport airplane. This gives rise to very strong compositions where the zigzagging snake of contestants forms a compact image with the surrounding nature.
