Roman Šafránek is a graduate of the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague, where he studied in the studios of figurative painting under Jiří Načeradský and monumental painting under Aleš Veselý. He also studied under Jacob Borges during an internship in Salzburg. Currently, he is primarily engaged in artistic and curatorial work and serves as the head of the Applied Painting department at the Secondary School of Industrial and Art in Hodonín. His work is characterized by large-format paintings, using mainly oil or acrylic. However, he is not afraid to experiment, often incorporating additional materials into his paintings, such as clay, pieces of wood, or found objects. Roman Šafránek's painting is distinguished by its contrasting color schemes and expressive style, where figurative motifs often transition into abstraction. In his extensive 2022 series of warriors, he primarily conveys the feeling of action, tension, and movement.
