Karel Jerie is a leading Czech painter and comic book artist. He graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in the painting studio of Antonín Střížek and Michael Rittstein. He is the author of a number of comic albums, publishes drawings in newspapers and magazines and illustrates books for young people. In 2008 he won the 1st prize at the International Comics Festival in Łódź for his comic dedicated to the history of Czech comics, Sbohem má lásko. The first part of the comic trilogy CANDIDE.
