About the artwork

This work was created in 2022 as part of a group exhibition called ROW ROW ROW RAČICE, which was presented at the venue of the 2022 World Rowing Championships in Račice. The exhibition is an artistic response by leading Czech and international artists to the beauty of this sport.

Jitka Petrášová, CZ

is a graduate of the Department of Art, Faculty of Education at the University of South Bohemia in České Budějovice. Since 2019 she’s been studying at Robert Šalanda’s atelier at the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague. She is naturally drawn to figural painting. In her work, she focuses on processing her formative experiences from childhood and early adulthood. In her currently largest painting cycle A Collection of Athletes, which initially began as a recollection of traumatising P.E. lessons and of an unsuccessful career as a competitive swimmer (voluntarily terminated in primary school),… Show artist profile
